Sport your SVO gear and join the Student Veteran Organization at Syracuse Hancock International Airport to welcome home 80 WWII and Korean War veterans returning home from a memorial service in Washington, D.C.
Honor Flight Syracuse’s 9th Mission will take place on Saturday, April 29 – who will be flying 80 WWII and Korean War Veterans, each accompanied by a Guardian, plus 26 Flight Team (bus leaders, health & safety folks, local media, photographers & videographers) to Washington, Dc to visit the memorials dedicated to their service and sacrifice. They will leave Hancock Airport on a chartered American Airlines Airbus at 7:00 am.
After a busy day, the 186 passengers will return to Hancock Airport for a great Welcome Home! And that’s where we come in…
Every mission, Honor Flight Syracuse has over 1,000 family, friends, and well-wishers assembled at the Airport to greet the Veterans upon their return.
If you’re carpooling, meet in the Marshall St. Mall parking lot behind University College (Veterans Lounge) at 5:00 p.m. If you’re driving yourself, meet us in the center of the Hancock Airport Terminal near the Honor Flight Special Guest check-in table no later than 6:00 p.m.
Park at no cost in the Overflow Parking Lot – as you enter the Airport from South Bay Road or I-81 on Eileen Collins Blvd, watch for a lighted sign at the traffic light by the NYS Police HQ. Turn left at the light and follow the “Honor Flight Parking” signs to the parking lot
Enter the terminal at the north end and walk to the center
If you have company or organization t-shirts feel free to wear them to ID your group. Military uniforms are always appropriate. General attire is casual to business casual.
